The Eye Opener For Isiolo Legal Notice No. 150.

Via Adan Kabelo Reading the arguments over LN 150 by professionals from the county is quite depressing. I wonder if these professionals truly understand the gravity of the matter or for them it's all about countering others opinion. May be some are too young to understand that this notice is the second attempt to open up isiolo county for grabs. The first scramble for isiolo was in the 90s when the leaders then gazetted a notice that made isiolo be openly balloted space for plots by any Tom Dick   and Harry from all over the world. This was unprecedented act that was unfair to the locals. Remember the late Jafar Tupi firmly protected the issuance of plots during his tenure because it will disadvantage the locals who by then we're considering isiolo as foreign to them. He had to be removed from the helm of the council to open up the town for the rest. Where else on earth have you heard land being balloted like gambling? This notice is the second avenue for further gambling beyon

Kipchoge, who ran one hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds in a special race in October, will be seeking his fifth London title on April 26. His barrier-breaking run in Vienna did not count as an official world record due to the use of revolving pacemakers who came in and out of the run, as well as a moving drinks provider. The Kenyan already holds the world record with his 2:01:39 from winning the Berlin Marathon in September 2018. When Does the New Decade Begin: In a Month, or a Year From Now?

Image
In recent years there has been debate about when a decade begins and ends. We break it down for you. So, when should you host your end-of-the-decade party? Credit... Christopher Lee for The New York Times By  Laura M. Oh, to revel in New Year’s Eve. Cheer with good friends! A glass of Champagne or two. And, this year, ringing in a new decade. Oh, wait. Are we? In recent years there has been debate about when a decade begins and ends. For some people, the next decade will begin on Jan. 1, 2020, and end on Dec. 31, 2029. For others, it won’t start until Jan. 1, 2021, concluding on Dec. 31, 2030. To the average person — well, many of us — it can be very confusing. But what is correct? Should we celebrate the beginning of a new decade now or wait until next year, when it seems a little passé? We decided to break it down for readers. We talked to an expert at the United States Naval Observatory, which runs the nation’s master clock. We interviewed an editor at the Farmers’ Almanac. We even

Say all the good things about BBI but young Kenyans feel left out

Image
Courtesy Of Daily Nation  There is a glaring gap in all this purported support for young people in business.           Members of the public follow proceedings during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative report at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi on November 27, 2019. PHOTO | DENNIS ONSONGO | NATION MEDIA GROUP  By NJOKI CHEGE IN SUMMARY A lot of Kenyan entrepreneurs have millions on ‘paper’ but nothing in their bank accounts. This country is full of horror stories of young entrepreneurs taking loans to deliver goods and services on time, only for clients to fail to pay, leaving them reeling in debt. I do not expect you to be remotely surprised that this is yet another column on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). As we continue to murmur about the much-maligned BBI report, today I want to risk sounding cliché by writing about BBI from a ‘youthful’ perspective. URBAN MYTH One of my greatest life pleasures in the recent past has been to interact very closely with young entrepreneur

Kenya Politics: Put ethnic politics, egos aside; let us focus on building bridges (The East African)

By Tee Ngugi On March 2018, arch political rivals, Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga emerged from inside Harambee House and shook hands on the steps of the building. In the statements they read to the press, they said they wanted to begin a process of finding out where “the rain began to beat us”.     The two gentlemen wanted Kenyans to ask questions that would engender a national renewal. What do we need to do — administratively, legislatively and psychologically — in order to transition from an administrative entity of several ethnic nations into a nation-state? Why is it that at every election cycle, Kenyans — professors as well as villagers — retreat into their tribal cocoons and don, literally and figuratively, tribal war dress?   BUILDING BRIDGES Since 1992, ethnic violence has claimed hundreds of lives, and in 2007/8 threatened a genocidal conflagration. So the two men wanted to create a process that would usher a national conversation about our nationhood and the habits, practic
