Deputy President William Ruto allied Member of parliament has hit back at pro-handshake lawmakers, barely hours after their presser.

The President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga allied lawmakers drawn from both the National Assembly and the senate on Wednesday accused Ruto of misconduct, calling for his resignation.

The MPs led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda and Kieni MP Kanini Kega argued that the DP must loyally assist President kenyatta in promoting the unity of the nation, failure to which he should resign.

But in a hard hitting response, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa says President Kenyatta does not take charge, Kenya will be going up to flames basing on the remarks issued by the pro-handshake legislators.

Barasa, in a social media post, has urged President Kenyatta to lead from the front, arguing that the insults and abuses against his deputy are too much.

“We must be worried about what is happening in this country. The statements made by the leaders for and against the Deputy President points to this fact. If President Uhuru Kenyatta does not take charge, Kenya will be going up to flames. President Kenyatta, lead from the front. The abuses and disrespect against your Deputy is too much,” reads part of the post.

Barasa further urges President Kenyatta to make it public that he needs a solid country that is free from hate, ethnicity and division.

He goes ahead to challenge the head of state to take Kenya back to the development trajectory.

“Please make it public that you need a solid country that is free from hate, ethnicity and division. You need to take Kenya back to the development trajectory. We have deviated; we are off the mark. The economy is in shambles because of the perpetual politics that are of no value to the people,” his facebook post reads.

He further cautions President Kenyatta not to allow political leaders get into the trap of getting excited over petty divisions.

“Let our leaders not get into the trap of getting excited over these petty divisions; we are digging a deep hole that may sink many generations. We must endeavor not to hurt others. Remember the Deputy President has a substantial following in this country; he deserves our respect. This country should not go up to flames,” he posted.

The pro-handshake leaders have been threatening to table an impeachment motion against the DP, for disrespecting the head of state.

The DP has on several occasions opposed President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga led Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which is aimed at creating unity among Kenyans.
